Eight months of intense teamwork finished with the ISO 9001:2015 quality certification provided by the Australian company SAI Global to the three segments of AMCO company: constructions, concrete and aggregates.
“The ISO 9001:2015 certification is an international norm guaranteeing the quality in our processes. For us, people who carry out these processes are the most important, AMCO quality people that made possible this celebration today,” said Marco Zúñiga, General Manager of AMCO.
Carlos Sandí, responsible for the AMCO Management System, explained that the process had the valuable advice of DIMERCA company. It included the formation of a Management Committee and other teams, a detail data systematization, presentations, dynamics, and internal and external audits. “I am very proud of being part of this successful path that started thanks to Eladio Bolaños and Carlos Víquez. It was strengthened with the appropriate working method and a group of people committed to quality, reaching the results we celebrate today,” stated Sandí. “Now, it is important to be aware that this is a big step we must foster by applying excellence in all our actions to benefit our customers and collaborators,” added the System Manager.
The certification is issued from February 22, 2018 to February 22, 2021, the year in which an external audit will be carried out to ratify the system. However, in order to evaluate the proper functioning of it, the Quality department of AMCO performs internal audits to different processes every week and SAI Global will carry out external follow-up audits every six months.
However, AMCO collaborators understand that the commitment to quality goes beyond any evaluation. “Before, each department tried to do the best, but now ISO made us think that we really need other areas of the organization to accomplish our goals. Obtaining just the certification wouldn’t be enough because of the huge work it takes. We have the responsibility and the commitment to maintain this level of excellence and improve it every day,” said Daniela Rojas, Occupational Health Manager of AMCO.
